Dr. Pizzi's professional practice is devoted to clinical and forensic psychology, couple counseling, and clinical sexology, and offers a wide range of services, ranging from treatment of emotional disorders, to relationship and sex therapy, to court-ordered evaluations and consultations. He is certified as an Imago Relationship Therapist and is currently in training at the Florida Postgraduate Sex Therapy Training Institute to become a Board-Certified Sex Therapist.
Dr. Pizzi was awarded his Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree from Yeshiva University in New York City in 1998, and is licensed at the highest level for psychologists in the states of Florida and Michigan. He completed his postdoctoral residency in the behavioral treatment of inpatient adolescent male sexual offenders in Hialeah, Florida, where he expanded his training & gained specialization in the treatment of the Latino community. He has done research and received training in New York City with regard to the unique clinical needs of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) community.
As a forensic psychologist, Dr. Pizzi has been designated an expert witness by several courts. He is certified by the American Psychological Association in Washington, DC, as a Psychologist HIV Trainer. He has traveled throughout the United States & Canada, as well as to Europe, Australia, Central & South America, Mexico, and the Caribbean, including Puerto Rico & Cuba. He has a passion for Latin-American cultures and has studied the dialects, regional influences, and cultural nuances of the Spanish language. He is bicultural and bilingual, possessing oral & written fluency in Spanish.
Dr. Pizzi has spoken on numerous occasions at professional conferences and trainings on such topics as providing clinical services to the GLBT community, forensic psychology in the family court system, evaluation & treatment of juvenile & adult sexual offenders, HIV in prisoners with mental illness, treatment of substance abuse & HIV, professional ethics, and Latino Men Who Have Sex With Men (LMSM).
Dr. Pizzi brings a wealth of unique clinical and life experiences, as well as his sense of humor, to help his patients & clients live healthier, more satisfying lives. His offices provide a welcoming and caring setting with a focus on confidentiality and trust.
